Shitty Nuts (from the kitchen of Eileen Crement)

These are not your ordinary beer nuts! They come with the spicy kick of Aw Shit, and are not for the faint of heart. Thanks to Eileen for sending us this recipe!


* 3 cups of either almonds or cashews (unsalted)
* ¾ cup of sugar
* ½ cup dark brown sugar
* 2½ - 3½ Tbsp Aw Shit (adjust to taste)
* 1 Tbsp cinnamon
* ½ tsp salt
* 1 egg
* dash of vanilla


1. Combine dry ingredients in bowl with your hands.
2. In another bowl, separate egg, discard the yolk. Add 1 tsp of vanilla.
3. Beat with mixer on high until you begin to get peaks, or when the mixture doesn't run in the bowl. Discard ¼ of the egg white mixture (just eyeball the amount).
4. Add nuts and mix with spatula until all are coated or look wet. Add all of the dry ingredients and gently mix until all nuts are coated with the dry mixture.
5. Cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Spread nut mixture evenly on cookie sheet.
6. Bake at 250 for 1hr 15min turning every 25 minutes (use a timer; it makes the process easier and nothing burns).
7. Let cool, store in an air tight container until ready to use or give as gifts.
